WHAT DOES A PERSONAL TRAINER DO?

A personal trainer provides the missing link between a client and their goals. This may be anything from motivation to knowledge and advice to making an exercise programme far more effective.

DO I NEED A PERSONAL TRAINER?

Literally everyone can benefit from a personal trainer, whether they are a complete beginner needing advice in order to exercise correctly, a regular exerciser needing professional knowledge to improve the effectiveness of their training to an athlete wanting to fine tune their movements, strength, conditioning and fitness to achieve a better performance.

DO I HAVE TO BE FIT TO GET A PERSONAL TRAINER?

Not at all, you can get a personal trainer at any level of fitness with goals however big or small, because the aim for the personal trainer is to help you achieve realistic goals in realistic time periods and then help you form new goals.

AM I TOO OLD TO START EXERCISING?

You are never too old to exercise!  In fact the best thing you can do to stay strong, flexible and doing the things you love through later life is by performing regular exercise.  A personal trainer can provide a safe, enjoyable way to do this.

I’M PREGNANT, SHOULD I EXERCISE?

Exercise during pregnancy is perfectly fine and good for you, but exercises and programmes will differ somewhat to normal, hence a personal trainer can provide apply their professional knowledge to designing you a safe method of training during pregnancy.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO SEE THE EFFECTS OF TRAINING?

The length of time you see results depends on a variety of factors: Your initial Fitness Level, Diet Nutrition, Genetics, Your Body, and Your Commitment. You can however feel the immediate effects of a workout with increased energy levels and improved flexibility even after your very first session. Generally you can expect to see significant results in 3- 6 weeks.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I EXERCISE?

It is recommended that everyone exercise for 30 minutes 3 times a week to maintain conditioning. So those exercisers attempting to progress their conditioning should exercise a minimum of 45-60 minutes 3 times a week. It is recommended that at least 1 hour of this be with a personal trainer, to ensure continued development and to monitor progress.

WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED?

The only equipment a client would need is suitable clothing and footwear. Clothes that restrict movement may not be suitable for the range of activity within a session. The trainer will provide all other equipment for the session. If you would like to purchase your own equipment we will happily advise you on the best kit for you.

I HAVE STRUGGLED WITH MY WEIGHT AND FITNESS FOR A LONG TIME, HOW WILL A PERSONAL TRAINER MAKE A DIFFERENCE?

The purpose of a personal trainer is to provide a specific programme based on underpinning scientific knowledge and to motivate and encourage you every step of the way. Each client has an initial consultation discussing barriers, objectives and goals in preparation to beginning training. Once an appointment has been made both the trainer and the client are committed to the programme. This continued commitment would ensure results through a continually adapted, challenging and progressive programme.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM A SESSION?

Of course every training session is different but will always start off with a warm up and some gentle movement based stretches to prevent injury during your work out and improve technique. This will be followed by any remedial work necessary. There will generally be a Cardio, Strength and Conditioning/ Toning and a Core component. At the end of a session a warm down with assisted stretches to finish. Each session will be fun, challenging and effective.

HOW LONG WILL I NEED TO USE A PERSONAL TRAINER FOR?

This will vary on your aims level of conditioning and personal preference. Most clients will use a Personal Trainer intensively initially and then after several weeks or months may see a trainer less frequently. Often this occurs once the client has achieved their goals and simply want to maintain their results. Some clients prefer to keep their initial schedule; it’s a personal choice.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I CANT MAKE AN APPOINTMENT?

It is standard for a client to give their trainer 24 hours notice of cancellation, so that the session has the potential to be reallocated. Failure to give this period of notice would incur the cost of the session.
